Protein + Fat + Peanut Fudge!
2 simple things I'm experimenting with these days due to my hypothyroidism:
1. Increasing my protein intake; and
2. Eating more fat!
Why, I hear you ask?
Protein: helps transports thyroid hormones to all of our tissues and eating it at each meal can help try to "normalise" thyroid function. Research (not marketing) shows that we don’t need a large amount of protein, but I’m enjoying varieties to each of my meals, from nuts or nut butters, quinoa, organic/grass-fed meats, eggs, fish or legumes.
Fat: too little and you could potentially exacerbate hormonal imbalance, including thyroid hormones. This includes eating a little more coconut oil, olive oil and ghee. Avocado, flax seeds, fish, nuts and nut butters, as well as full fat dairy and coconut milk.
Needless to say, this little treat ticks these two boxes.
