A New York Story Part II
I have to confess that I wasn't that impressed with the shopping. Shoes were cheap, but most other things, unless on sale, were fairly comparable. It didn't stop us though....
As I'd purchased so much stuff to take home, gifts for friends and family ended up being of the chocolate variety...hope they don't mind....
On our second last day....
...after an awe inspiring visit to The Met, we wandered around Central Park before relaxing back with a glass of wine at The Boathouse.
I loved this place.
It was elegant but not intimidating, and in fact it was so relaxing we stayed for some more wine and a yummy cheese platter whilst watching the row boats go by.
On our last morning, we wandered out for a leisurely breakfast at a local cafe called Cafe Orlin. We'd walked past this cafe every day, and every day it was full from first thing in the morning till the late hours of the evening.
Now I know why....
It was delicious.
The coffee would have to have been my favourite of the entire trip and the eggs were cooked to perfection (well, for my taste buds anyway), and look at the price...eggs on toast, fresh orange juice and coffee...$6.25....told you New York was cheap!
All great things must come to an end....
....before heading off to the airport we grabbed some sandwiches and relaxed at one of the tables in Bryant Park (located behind the library). What a beautiful park, and what a wonderful end to this holiday. The sun was shining, people were laughing and the smell I remember even as I sit here now is of the jasmine flowers that grow all around the city.
Thank you New York for welcoming us with open arms. I enjoyed every minute of my visit with you and hope to see you again soon!
