Blogger Tag - Up Close & Personal

The other day I received my very first Blogger Tag from Julie of Gourmet Getaways where I'm to answer a number of questions revealing little random facts about myself. I'm usually quite a private person (especially in this space), but I was kinda excited about this - I felt like one of the cool kids. So here goes - a snippet of my life in 8 questions....

1. List five foods you could you never bring yourself to eat?

Bit of a hard one to answer as I eat pretty much everything (my thighs will agree with this comment), but my least favourite foods would be:

Offal  I can still smell the tripe my mum would cook with vinegar when we were little…ick

Combination Chicken Dumplings - Brings back a not-so-good food memory from Hong Kong

Eel - Way to fishy tasting for me and always reminds me of a scene from a 1980’s Chevy Chase movie that I can’t remember the title of, but involved lots of eel’s swimming around attacking everyone

Liquor chocolates - If I want chocolate and alcohol, I wouldn't waste my time on these poor cousins

Caged Eggs - I just can't bring myself to eat them. Not even in a cake.

2. Your happiest food memory.

It could be from the first time one of my friends cooked a steak with a melt in the mouth Bearnaise sauce dolloped on top for dinner, to eating at Gills Diner for the very first time (every bite is heaven on a fork), right through to the first party I catered (I was very proud of myself that day). However, one memory I have includes my mum and I eating dinner at the Southern Cross Hotel (remember this place? It was located on the corner of Bourke and Exhibition Streets in Melbourne). I remember it being really elegant (well, from the eyes of a child it was elegant), and I remember that I would have to give my order to the waiter all on my own. I felt like such a grown up.

3. What would be your most embarrassing fashion moment?

I was in year 12, it was ‘casual dress day’ and I wore tight white bubble gum jeans to school....need I say more?

4. Finish this sentence, “It drives me mental when….”

People stop still when getting off an escalator! I’ve noticed that as I get older I’m finding it harder to hold in my frustration and often the person who has stopped in front of me gets an earful – my sincere apologies if it was ever you!

5. Finish this sentence, “There is nothing better in life than…”

A cup of tea. I drink it morning, noon or night, and cannot get through a single day without one, and not that Lipton crap either – earl grey all the way baby. It’s like medicine – makes everything feel better.

6. You find a magic lantern and are granted one wish from the Genie of the lamp, what would your wish be?

At this very moment in time, it would be to have a little villa located somewhere in the countryside of France, with a huge veggie garden, and a big table topped with lots of cheese, crusty bread and wine sitting outside underneath a huge leafy oak tree with the warm sun on my face.....or....an air conditioner!

7. If you had one hour of invisibility what would you do?

The choices....perhaps it would be to sneak into a real estate office in France and sign the papers on my little villa with its veggie garden. It's kinda like finding another magic lantern, isn't it.

8. What made you decide to share your life with the world via a blog?

I’m relatively new to the blogging world and was introduced to it via a girlfriend of mine at Flightless Boyds. I decided to start my own little blog to post pictures of the food I create for catering purposes only, and as most things tend to happen - it took on a life of its own. Now I use it as a little food diary for myself.

And now it's my turn, and I pick:

Shellie from Iron Chef Shellie

Juddie from Flightless Boyds

Ange from Vicious Ange

Celeste from Berry Travels

And the questions are.....

1. Your favourite meal and why?

2. Most memorable restaurant experience - good or bad?

3. Favourite holiday destination?

4. If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

5. Your pet hate?

6. Most embarrassing moment?

7. Your favourite blog of the moment?

8. Favourite way to spend a Saturday night?

Ready, set, tag....you're it!
